Sun Chlorella Review

in Product Review

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a representative from the Sun Chlorella company with an offer to be sent some of their products for a review. I gladly agreed, because not only did I think it could potentially benefit me, I was thrilled that someone had asked me to review something! I know to most bloggers it’s a no-big-deal kind of thing to be sent stuff, but I was very honored :) I also want to add before getting into the review that the customer service was really prompt, helpful and nice. It was easy to contact the representative and she always responded very quickly and answered any questions I had.

When I received the package, I was skeptical at first, because for some dumb reason I did not realize it was a natural food supplement or boost. I don’t usually take or eat things like this, always assuming they do not work, but I decided to give it a go anyway, you never know, it could help!

The tag line for Sun Chlorella is “Nature’s Perfect Superfood,” claiming to improve both your mind and body in several different ways. I was sent a 20 day supply of Sun Chlorella A Tablets and from the letter they sent me, Sun Chlorella is a natural whole food supplement derived from Chlorella pyrenoidosa, a nutritionally superior species of freshwater, single-celled, green algae. It provided vital nutrients that your body needs such as potassium, all of the B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, iron, 18 vital amino acids, beta carotene and lutein. It also contains Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) which gives your body a revitalizing boost. You are able to get this into your body in the form of tablets you swallow, rather than something you have to chew.

They company suggests taking 15 tablets (3 grams) per day with a meal. You have the option to take them all at once or over the course of the day, making sure you take all 15 to get the proper result. I don’t have a problem taking tablets or pills, so I usually had all 15 at once with lunch. As for result, I noticed that after 1 or 1.5 week or so, I was able to enjoy better night sleep! I did not wake up as often and for once I woke up to my alarm and didn’t feel like death, but actually energized and ready to take on the day. The rate of nail and hair growth also seemed to increase (probably due to the Chlorella Growth Factor as claimed?). My skin was smoother and broke out less often, something I was psyched about as I constantly battle acne. It also seemed to help improve my immune system, but I can’t know this for sure because I rarely get sick- knock on wood! ;-)

The company also sent me a number of extra items such as a 20 day supply of the Chlorella Granules, which is another way to get Chlorella into your body. Each sleeve contained one serving or 3 grams of chlorella, which was a suitable amount to mix into a food or drink of your choice. I personally tried mixing into a smoothie and an overnight bowl of oatmeal. In the smoothie, I could not taste the granules, but they were a green color that I had not been expecting to see! It did turn the smoothie a bit green, but we have those all of the time now (green monsters anyone?). In the oats, a green color could be seen again, and did add a slight, umm leafy taste? I looked on the website a few times and noticed that they offer a special cookbook with recipes incorporating the granules into them.

The Sun Chlorella company continued to show their dedication and thoughtfulness toward customer satisfaction by sending a small gift bag of even more products from their line. The bag included Sun Chlorella cream, a tea- Sun Eluthero Tea, and even tablets for dogs and cats!

  • Cream- I noticed that along with ingesting the tablets, my skin was smoother from this cream as well. I am currently using Proactive to improve the quality of my skin but this leaves my skin very dry. I used the cream after the Proactive and was glad that it alleviated the dryness, but also did not lead to more breakouts, something moisturizer does to me all of the dang time!
  • I then tried the tea which has the same benefits of Sun Eleuthero tablets, another product from the company that gives you a beneficial energy boost without the shakes often associated with coffee. I drank this team in place of my usual coffee one morning, and did not notice a huge energy difference, but I was also not more tired and felt refreshed like after I have coffee.

  • When I received the package, I was at school with none of my pets with me of course, so I have not had a chance to give test this particular product. However from the website it says, Pet Sun Chlorella will help purify your pet’s body of dangerous toxins and chemicals, enhance your pet’s health with an abundance of beta-carotene, and help improve your pet’s appearance and overall health and well-being. Each tiny tablet of Pet Sun Chlorella has been blended with eleuthero and lecithin, providing your pet with added support to maintain good health.

Overall, I really do feel better, yet it’s difficult to describe. These last few weeks I have been taking more chances, going with the flow more, being more social, and generally just feeling better about myself. I of course have occasional bad days, but the good ones are finally surpassing the negatives. I believe the Sun Chlorella is helping to improve my overall self, and the work I am doing with my therapist, support from my family, blogging, and being more social, are also adding to my improved self.

The only aspect I would consider with this product is the price. It’s a bit expensive, but then again I think everything is way too pricey! That whole college thing and mininal wage job= a very Poor Tessa.

Let me know if you want any more details on how I felt from using the Sun Chlorella products! I would be happy to answer any other questions or wahtever else is on your mind!

Has anyone tried this product, or are supplements and add-ins a no-no in your life? Please share, I am curious!

Well they are very small, so they didn’t bother me …but people that don’t like pills, could be a problem!

Interesting…I know what you mean about having trouble telling whether the supplement is actually making a difference. Our minds have so much power and can seem to convince us of anything. It seems like you are doing all the right things to improve your overall well-being though! Keep it up!!! You are very inspiring!

The only supplement I take is spectrum fish oil because of it’s anti-inflamatory properties. I personally think it helps me recovory from workouts faster, and keeps my skin firm and smoother. But who knows, right? I don’t swear by the fish oil, and it might make more sense for me to spend my money elsewhere (ie. more real food), but for now I think it’s making a difference. I take 4/day, and I do seem to recover from tough workouts much faster than in years past (I’ve been taking fish oil for about 1.5 years).

Aww thanks McKayla! It’s so wonderful for me to hear that you think I am inspiring, it really means alot :)
I really need to start taking fish oil supplements. I used to shy away from them because of the fat they have in them (duh) but since I was so terrified of fats, I couldn’t imagine swallowing a pill filled with it. But they are so beneficial for your body, time to invest in them!

I didn’t even know there was such a supplement. That is pretty cool.
I don’t know how I would do with 15 pills, but you said they were small- so if they really do help, then I say go for it!

Yeah, they were quite tiny! I just did 7 and 6 with two big gulps of water

For those that have used Sun Chlorella, I would be interested to find out if you noticed better mental function and memory retention, which is another factor that the company claims results from taking the product.

Sun Chlorella tea is great. I’ve been searching a tea that can relieve stress when I’m at work. I sit for 8 hours look on the monitor. I can’t help to have headache after long hours but I’m sure with the help of this tea, I can manage to budget my schedule with myself and kids.

Hi there… Your blog is really informative… And I’m really thinking about trying out sun chlorella.. I’ve recently been getting mild acne, due to stress and hormones… But it’s been like this for months now :(
Would you recommend investing in a bottle of these pills? Did you see a markable difference in your acne when using this?
Id really appreciate a reply.. Thanks :D

I have been taking Sun Chlorella A for almost a week now and very impressed with it. I don’t usually get up very easily in the morning but now I’m getting up before the alarm and I don’t feel tired at all. My skin also feel smoother and I’m more concentrate when I’m in a meeting too. To me I give a big thump up for Sun Chlorella A!
